Ulay

I sit with wide open mouth in front of the guests.

There is the sound of saliva being sucked out.

The sound stops, I close my mouth.

I sew my mouth shut and sit.

I leave.

Marina

I take Ulay’s place.

I answer questions from the guests in his place

until I make a mistake by answering for myself.

I leave.

Roger Hiorns - Seizure (2008)

British artist Roger Hiorns created something strangely beautiful and magical. For this awesome installation, Hiorns pumped 75,000 liters of liquid copper-sulfate into an empty public housing flat in London. After a few weeks the apartment looked like an ancient, glittering cave - the walls and ceilings were covered in blue copper sulphate crystals.

It just looks like a kiss between lovers, but actually it is one deep breath.

We are kneeling face to face, pressing our mouths together.

Our noses are blocked with filtertips.

Ulay

I am breathing in oxygen.

I am breathing out carbon dioxide.

Marina

I am breathing in carbon dioxide.

I am breathing out carbon dioxide.

Ulay

I am breathing in carbon dioxide.

I am breathing out carbon dioxide.

They walked the entire length of the Great Wall of China. Marina Abramovic started walking at the eastern end and Ulay at the western end of the Wall. They both continuously walked for 90 days over a distance of 2,000 kilometers until they met.
